![]() ![]() Sometimes you just feel like picking up a game without an intense storyline and just get soem qucik action in. This is basically an average game with average graphics and bad camera angles but it amused me. But if you can look beside that it is an entertaining game, even more with multiplayer. One thing I must warn is that the camera angles are awful especially when playing multiplayer. The best thing I can compare this game to is the reason you watch Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm street movies, to be cheesily entertained. Let's face it if you've stumbled upon this game it isn't because your wanting to play a classic game you will never forget. However if you're not patient enough to handle clumsy weapons and repeating several parts due to lack of save points, I wouldn't recommend it to you. In short, while the game has its drawbacks, I personally enjoy it so far. I'm currently hoping the end won't be a disappointment, but I feel like the game would still have been fun to play anyway. PLOT: I haven't completed the game yet (although I intend to), so I can't speak for the plot overall or the ending. As mentioned before, some of the areas (particularly the forest) can get VERY dark, and make it almost impossible to see. SCENERY: While the setting seems big at first, you'll find many of the doors locked or inaccessible, which disappoints a person like me who loves exploring the area and finding things. The flying UFO monsters are particularly annoying, because if you're out of bullets, well - you're pretty much SOL. While they aren't necessarily hard to defeat, they're pretty annoying when they show up - especially when you're out of bullets and have little health left. MONSTERS: There are really only three types of monsters, which can get boring after a while. The side dialogue gives you a sense of each character's personality and the voices are suited to the characters well in my opinion. The voice acting is pretty good, considering. I haven't played the game with a partner yet, so I don't know how well it works. It's also pretty neat to be able to switch between them if you so choose. I don't have a problem with melee style - I rather like it because it can be more realistic and brutal - but with the awkward controls and weapons in this game, it makes it a bit less appealing.ĬHARACTERS: I don't have many complaints about the characters, and I enjoy the fact that they each have their own unique skills that you must utilise throughout the game. After dying and having to repeat a very lengthy part of the game several times, I became a bit fed up. It wouldn't be SO bad, if the save points weren't so few and far between as well. ![]() First aid kits are few and far between, especially considering you have TWO people you have to look out for. I personally enjoy using the wii remote to wack monsters at all sorts of different angles, but the melee weapons do little damage and you die pretty quickly if you aren't careful.Īlso, dying is another big annoyance I have with this game. While you have several guns, the ammo is extremely limited, so you're basically left with melee weapons like a golf club or bat. GAMEPLAY: The fighting style is sort of typical for a mostly melee-based game. My biggest complaint is that it is often SO DARK in the game that I can't even see what I'm (trying) to hit. GRAPHICS: Personally I think they're fairly decent for a wii game (there could be better, but it's nothing to complain about in my opinion). I have yet to play the first in this series, so I'm clueless about the continuation here (other than what I've read). Gameplay has several drawbacks, but i personally enjoy it Obscure: The Aftermath's atmospheric soundtrack was performed by the Boston String Quartet and the Paris Opera Children's Choir. Players can freely switch between the two to take advantage of certain abilities, or a friend can join in for cooperative play. Viewed from a third-person perspective, the action primarily involves fighting enemies and solving puzzles with two characters at a time. Each of the six playable characters brings distinct skills to the group, from moving heavy objects to hacking computers. No strangers to horror, the students plan on arming themselves with whatever weapons they can find to confront the misshapen mutants and save the town.īaseball bats, hockey sticks, crossbows, tasers, submachine guns, and other armaments can be used to battle enemies. The flower's seeds are even more potent, infesting the peaceful town of Fallcreek with a sinister evil. Strange black flowers have suddenly appeared on campus, and their powerful pollen has hallucinogenic properties. The storyline takes place two years later, with the surviving teenagers attending college to put their troubled pasts behind them. Obscure: The Aftermath is the M-rated sequel to 2005's high-school horror title. ![]()
